What is the Working Group "Open Access"?

The "Open Access" working group is a strategic committee consisting of the university management, faculties and University and State Library of the University of Bonn. The working group, which meets regularly, serves to strategically address the changing conditions of academic publishing due to Open access.

What are the goals of the working group?

In the context of academic policy frameworks, the working group intends to collaborate on the strategic concerns and structural requirements of the Open Access transformation and to implement them across the university.

  • Establish the strategic direction for activities supporting open publication infrastructures within the university.
  • Ensure the University's policy framework for Open access to publications.
  • Effectively implement future University policies on Open access.
  • Oversee the distribution and centralized management of financial resources to support the Open access transformation.
  • Discuss ongoing and current developments at both national and international levels in the area of Open Access.
  • Ensuring and facilitating close collaboration among all university stakeholders in support of open publication infrastructures.
  • Steering the university's communication on Open access.
